Vientiane (VNA) - The Consul Office at the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos announced on April 9 that all foreigners living in Laos, including Vietnamese, do not have to request a visa extension if their Lao visa expires. The decision is effective until April 20.
Head of the Office Nguyen Duy Quan said this is the latest announcement from the Immigration Department at the Lao Ministry of Security, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Those whose visas expire before April 20 will not be subject to fines, Quan said, adding that after the date, the Immigration Department will announce whether the new regulation will remain in place or be removed.
He recommended Vietnamese citizens visit the Immigration Department in Vientiane or immigration offices in cities and provinces if they wish to extend their stay./.
