Gatherings mark Vietnam’s New Year abroad
The Vietnamese Embassy and Vietnamese Association in Laos held a gathering in Vientiane on January 14 celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year festival.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy and Vietnamese Association in Laos held a gathering in Vientiane on January 14 celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year festival.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung thanked the Lao Party, State and people for providing effective support for Vietnam, its embassy and community in the country over the past years.
Lao Defence Minister Gen. Chansamone Chanyalath congratulated Vietnam on being elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure, proving the international community’s trust in the country and its improving stature on global arena.
He expressed his belief that great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples will be increasingly strengthened, contributing to peace, stability, and development cooperation in the region and the world.
Participants at the event were treated to traditional Vietnamese food and music performances.
Earlier, similar events were held in Ukraine and Lithuania./.
