24th September 2023 post by MOIT Vietnam

On September 24, in Van Canh mountainous district (Binh Dinh), Binh Dinh Province organized the Vietnam-Lao Youth Culture and Sports Festival with the response of more than 250 associations, young people, Vietnamese students and Laos.

At the Festival, the associates and young people of the two countries toured the traditional textile craft village in Can Thuan commune, Van Canh district, exchanged "Vietnam - Laos Food Culture Space" and many sports, etc.

Soukdaovanh (from Attapeu province in Laos and a student at Quy Nhon University), Head of the Lao Student Representative Board in Binh Dinh, stated, "We are very happy to share with Binh Dinh friends about the features of my homeland's unique culture, as well as learning more about the culture of Binh Dinh province in particular and Vietnam in general." We hope that exchange programs like this one will continue to be organized in order to promote and facilitate cultural exchange between not only Vietnam and Laos, but also many other countries and peoples.

According to Mr. Pham Hong Hiep, Deputy Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Youth Union, approximately 14,000 Lao students are currently studying in Vietnam. There are 75 Lao students studying at colleges and universities in Binh Dinh alone. The Vietnam - Laos Youth Cultural and Sports Festival was organized to help Lao students learn more about Binh Dinh's cuisine, culture, and people, as well as to introduce unique costumes, cuisine, and culture. This is also a useful playground and a healthy environment for Vietnamese and Lao students to exchange traditional culture, promoting the role of youth in preserving and strengthening the two countries' friendly relationship.

"Binh Dinh Province hopes that through the festival, the friendly solidarity between the young people of the two countries will become more and more connected, thereby continuing to promote the good cultural traditions of each nation, affirming the exemplary, pure and very faithful relationship of the two Lao - Vietnam countries," Mr. Hiep added.

On the evening of September 24, delegations and young people enjoyed the art program "Vietnamese - Laos Youth, Proud to Continue" and exchanged bonfires…
