Vinamilk starts construction of dairy resort in Laos
On May 24, in Xiengkhouang province, Laos, Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) officially opened Jagro Development Xiengkhouang Company (Lao-Jagro) and started the construction of phase 1 of 5000 ha organic dairy resort complex.
The Lao-Jagro Co., Ltd. was established in 2015 through mutual cooperation between Laos and Japan. In July 2018, Vinamilk announced an investment equal to 51 percent of the share capital of Lao-Jagro Co., Ltd.
The first phase of the farm will cover 5000 ha with 24000 cows. The second phase is expected to expand the farm to 15000-20000 ha with 100000 cows. Total investment in 2 phase is estimated at 500 million USD.
General director of Vinamilk Mai Kieu Lien said: Recognizing the huge development potential of the project, Vinamilk and Lao-Jagro have planned strategies with long-term vision and specific steps to develop the organic diary resort in Laos. "Vinamilk will apply the 4.0 technology, the most advanced machineries and equipments together with experienced experts, to ensure the project is successfully implemented." She affirmed.
The farm intends to meet the stringent organic standards required by Japan, Europe and the US.
